Produce and marketing organizations (P.M.Os) promotion and formation
This ensures a coordinated production and marketing schedule and avoids market gluts of agricultural produce. This is done hand in hand with contract farming. All the farmers intending to grow a certain produce are expected to register with the local branch, acreage to plant, any difficulties in acquiring inputs or any other relevant issue. The same is communicated to the coordinator who seek ways and means to address the problems facing the farmers within the organization.
Poor quality Produce
Due to farming methods used and slow adoption of modern technology among other factors farmers have not been able to produce products of high quality that would meet international standards. This makes their products less competitive in the international market. Farmers are also known to use restricted classes of chemicals indiscriminately which serves as a setback in marketing.
WHAT THEY SAYTESTIMONIALSOUR GREAT CLIENTS
“Frankly, I don’t know how you can operate efficiently without soil testing,” said Maina. “To us, it’s one of the key factors in how we plan our operation from year to year and it hasn’t let us down.” Thanks to Hortagro for enlighting us on the importance of soil testing.
Maina Kiraguri
"Hortagro stand is that food security is a public good, as well as a social and economic good. Poverty and food insecurity are terrible burdens to the world. Poverty needs to be greatly reduced. Food security without income generation lacks sustainability."

Consistent production
Rather than fully depending on rain fed agriculture the farmers need to diversify and start using artificial irrigation as a means of production. This ensures there is no glut of the produce which in turn lowers the prices. Farmers plan their production in such a way that there is constant and continuous supply as this will minimize price fluctuations.
Encourage local consumption as a marketing strategy
Hort Agro encourage local consumption of finished and unfinished agriculture products. This increases consumption and hence the profits realized are higher. Consumption increase demand of these products and consequently increases price.
Soil conservation
Clients are trained to embrace farming methods that encourage soil conservation and reduce soil erosion such as the use of conservation agriculture and minimum tillage.

FACTS & FIGURES
Hort Agro
Hort agro solution agencies aim at providing timely signals or information to the farmers to guide them in their plans to produce. The farmers need to know what to produce, when to produce, when and where they can sell those produce and at what prices the produce are likely to fetch.
Soil Testing
Farmers who are ignorant of their soils fertility status and have continued to use fertilizers indiscriminately. As an intervention measure farmers are encouraged to have their soils sampled, tested and analyzed and this decrease the cost of production.
